In honor of Saint Patrick's day, I thought it fitting to post a picture of Croagh Patrick (Mt. Patrick) located in Co. Mayo, Ireland. In 441 A.D., Saint Patrick fasted for forty days atop this mountain. Today, it remains the most important Catholic pilgrimage in Ireland. The pilgrimage to the top of the mountain is seen as an act of penance (some choose to climb barefoot!) and at the summit, there is a chapel where Mass is held daily.
John and I have been looking forward to climbing Croagh Patrick for some time--and we finally get to in just 4 more weeks!
