Dear George

Congratulations on your sweep of the Red Sox. The boys worked hard and did a very good job.

Speaking of working hard, my husband works hard every day to make a nice living for us. Therefore, I'd appreciate it if you could keep winning so you can continue to play through October. That would prolong my husband's happiness and I think he's earned it.

Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Sincerely,
Mrs. John Edward Hernandez

PS...You may want to have your skipper talk with young Jaba. As much as we may dispise the dirt that are the Red Sox, they are still made in the image and likeness of God, and as such, should not have to dodge balls to the cabeza.

Deacon John Ficker

Our very dear family friend, Deacon John Ficker, suffered a stroke on Monday morning. He is making progress everyday and has regained his speech and use of his hands and arms, but he's still in the ICU. John, as you may recall, married us last September. He and his wife Alice are the most wonderful people--salt of the Earth. They give so much of themselves to everyone they know, especially our parish, St. George. Please keep John, Alice and all of their 7 children in your prayers.

A nice surprise...

This morning I went to school thinking it was going to be my first day as the Librarian. Change of plans! The 7th grade teacher was out for the day, so I was called on to substitute. It was great to be with the older kids today. I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Literature and Grammar (my speciality!)

I REALLY enjoyed subbing today. KH

Dear George

I love my husband when your boys win. He's giddy like a school boy and has a smile on his face usually reserved only for me. But if your boys keep winning, I'd be happy to share the smile.

I still love my husband even when your boys lose. But I do not like the pouting, screaming and cursing. When our children are born, I'd appreciate if your boys win all the time. Otherwise, our children may drop a few f-bombs at school and have to spend the majority of their time in the confessional.

Sincerely,
Mrs. John Edward Hernandez

First day of Spanish class

Wow, what a success! I'll admit that I tossed and turned all night in anticipation. But I prayed this morning that everything would go smoothly and that I'd do a good job. And I did!

The kids had a good time in class, learned something (the objective, right?!) and I got several compliments from their teachers on what a good job I was doing. Coming from veteran teachers, this rookie breathed a huge sign of relief!

Kindergarten Rocks!

The first day of school was AWESOME! 35 little munchkins to keep track of who all want to do the exact opposite of what you tell them to. It's grand!

El lunes es el primer día de la clase española.

Smart Cookie

Shot out to Miss Brittany Louise Brizek!

After carrying an unbelievable cross for the past two years, she finally got the green light to return back to school! She started at Andrew last week and is loving being back at school.

Because she had not been in school for the past 2 years (and instead in and out of hospitals!), she was a little worried she wouldn't be able to keep up academically. We all kind of laughed at that because she has always been an A student and you don't just lose that. But all those prescription drugs can mess with your mind...

Well, she got her placement test scores back today and I'm very proud to say our smart cookie of a sister placed in Honors Algebra! She obviously does NOT take after her big sis in this category.

Congrats baby! Make it a great year. We're rootin' for you.

St. Louis de Montfort

Today was teacher orientation at St. Louis de Montfort school. We began the day by celebrating Mass and then spent some time getting to know each other and the plan for the upcoming school year. I received my finalized schedule and it is as follows:

Monday: Spanish (Preschool-8th Grade)

Tuesday: Aide (Kindergarten)

Wednesday: Library (Preschool-8th Grade)

Thursday: Aide (Kindergarten)

Little League World Series

Someday we'll go out to PA to see it in person. But for now, we watch it on ESPN.

All. Weekend. Long. (This is what happens when it rains and rains and rains!)

Greetings from South Bend!

What a crappy weekend. It rained and rained and rained! We did get a little sunshine though on Saturday when Katy Beach and her boyfriend Keith (a chemist at ND) stopped by for a visit. We had a blast catching up (and meeting Keith for the first time.) Unfortunatley my camera was out of battery so I couldn't snap a pic of us all. However, the picture of the periodic table is just as fitting! ;) Miss you guys and see you on a Saturday afternoon in the Bend real soon!

Labor Day Weekend!

Our annual Labor Day Weekend visit to Orlando is quickly becoming a tradition! Talking to Mom tonight got me so excited about the upcoming visit. John and I miss you all so much and can't wait to see you guys. We're looking forward especially to:
1. Mommy's cooking.
2. Grandma's hugs.
3. Kiddies galore (especially the newbies, Tate and Dubs)!
and my personal fave...
4. Chick Fil-A
Love you all and see you real soon!
