First Kicks!

This morning, Lola said hello to Mommy by giving her a few soft, little kicks and flutters. It was so amazing. I was certain it wasn't just gas because I had NEVER felt anything like that in my body before. I felt one at first then continued to lay still to see if that was really her. Sure enough, I got 3 more a short while later.

Perfect timing sweetheart! We love you.

Our daughter

Lola Rose Hernandez is on her way!

We had our “Big” ultrasound today and learned we are having a daughter. It makes sense…we’ve been talking about our “Lola” since before we even got engaged! Our sweet baby girl looks just as she should. She weighs about 10 ounces right now and the ultrasound tech said she’s in the 54% percentile. Not big, not small…just right! We are so thankful everything is good with her. Your prayers mean so much. Please keep them coming for the next 20 weeks!

So there you have it…a daughter, a grand-daughter, a great-grand-daughter, a niece, a cousin, a friend is on the way from our hearts to yours!

Happy Birthday Mom!

We got together for brunch this morning to celebrate my beautiful Mom's 54th birthday! We surprised her with a family picture of all her children and of course, the waterworks flowed. She was so happy and excited. We're so glad we could make her day. Thanks for all you do for us Mom. WE LOVE YOU!

While we were getting our pictures taken, the photographer noticed I was expecting so she asked if we'd like to take a "maternity" picture. Since the belly is finally starting to show to the world, we thought "why not?!"...even though it's still pretty small. It's fun to look at this picture and know there's three of us in it. :)

How cute is this?!

We got one of our very first baby gifts yesterday! John's new co-worker Tony and his wife Jenny bought our little one the cutest Dr. Suess "Cat In The Hat" onsie. He brought it home from work with him and it was like he came home with a new pair of diamond earings! I got silly excited. I can't beleive our little baby will be wearing it soon. This blessing gets more real by the day.

T-minus 1 week!

This time next week we'll be letting you know if we've got a bambino or a bambina on the way! We're really, really excited. As of now, the votes are leaning towards boy, bringing in 60% of the vote, but girl is right behind with 40%. This thing could go down to the wire. (Can you tell I've been watching too much Democratic political coverage?)

More importantly, at next week's ultrasound we'll find out if the baby is is overall good health. We're praying things look good and the Lord continues to bless us. He's done quite a job so far!

Seen any good movies lately?

I'm playing movie critic here and reviewing two movies we've recently watched that I highly suggest you do too.
There Will Be Blood was an amazing movie with John's favorite actor, Daniel Day-Lewis. This guy is the best. Simply. This one is still in theaters but if you don't get to see it there, it's a must rent on DVD. Movie critics have called Day-Lewis' performance the best since Orsen Wells' in Citizen Kane. What the AFI considers the best of all-time.

Gone Baby Gone is one of those movies that keeps you guessing until the end. It stars Casey Affleck and is (shockingly) very well directed by his big brother Ben. The acting is top-notch from all, including from Ed Harris, a personal fave of mine. It leaves you asking the question at the end, what choice would you have made? This one's on DVD. One of the best I've seen in a long time.

Breakfast--The most important meal of the day!

I've been meaning to put this recepie up forever. Chef Linda made it for us during our last visit and it was so good, we made it again when they came to visit. I'm craving it so I thought now would be a good time to share it with everyone. It's out-of-this-world! And very easy to make. Enjoy!
