Oak Park Ave. Tree Lighting

We kicked off the Christmas season this evening with the Oak Park Ave. Tree Lighting ceremony. It's only 27 degrees out, so I bundled Lola up in her Abominable snow suit and headed to the train station to meet Daddy.

We stopped into Cavalini's for a warm treat--Ghirardelli hot chocolate for Mommy, Peanut Butter Mocha for Daddy.

Then we walked over to Zabrocki square to listen to the doo-wop group Take 5 sign a few carols before our mayor of 30 years, Ed Zabrocki (and his grandkids) did the honor of flipping the switch.

Our beautiful Main Street (the best main street in the country!) is glowing tonight. It's beautiful. This time of year is more magical to us than ever before. Lola is going to really enjoy this Christmas and because of that, our hearts are filled with joy. To be able to experience Christmas again as a child does--what a privilege.

This is the Oak Park Ave. station. It's BEAUTIFUL! John takes the 80th Ave. train, the 3rd busiest stop on all of Metra's rails--so it's getting a multi-million dollar make over next year. Can't wait!
