Kurek Cousins

We headed down to the legendary Kurek-staple, Ron of Japan, on Saturday night. Too much food and too many drinks, but lots of laughs were had by all.

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Super-baby!

Clark Richard DiTore made his enternace into the world this morning. Mom, Dad and Baby are all doing well.

Congratulations Rich and Lindsay. We're so happy for you guys. We can't wait to come down to STL and shower the little guy with Hernandez Kisses!

Has it really been a year already?!

We received our first "First Anniversary" card today. (Thanks Aunt Janis and Uncle Rich!) It's hard to believe that at the end of this month we'll be celebrating our first anniversary of being husband and wife. Time really does fly when you're having fun.

To celebrate and commemorate, we're driving up to South Haven, Michigan next weekend. South Haven is located on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan and it supposed to be a great, quaint village. We're also going to make a stop at an apple orchard and a wine vineyard while we're up there. Should be an enjoyable weekend! What a blessing it is to be married.

Sugar and Spice, and everything nice!

John's friend Rob and his wife Jessica welcomed a daughter to their family a few days ago. Caroline joins her big brother Jack.

Congratulations! We're so happy for you guys!

Labor Day 2007

Here's a little recap from our visit down south. We had a blast! It was so great to see everyone, but as always, we hated to leave. We miss you all so much! xoxo

A little fun with Tessa & Tate Peck. Ok, alot of fun! Tate is probably one of the best babies ever. So calm and smiling all the time. Tessa is getting to be such a big girl and is a great big sis to baby Tate. It was so great to hear her chat away.

As usually, Mom asks what she wants us to make when we come to visit. John suggested homemade Chippino. It was amazing. What a shocker! (You could literally open a cook book to any page, point to any recipe and ask her to make it and I promise you it will be one of the best meals you'll ever have. The woman has a gift!)

The Hernandez kids (John, Kristen, Mike and Renee) went out to Urban Flats for some drinks and Tom & Dan met up with us for a few. Kristen learned she does NOT like Crown Royal (which is a shocker because her dad and brother are fans.)

Labor Day was a fun-in-the-sun day for sure! We were over at Tom's parent's house for a BBQ and swim party. Tessa and the Colado trips LOVE the water. At the age of 2-2.5, they're already swimming like little fish on their own! Tate's well on her way too!
Dickson, the little Casanova that he is, was nice enough to pose for a picture. Cole and Merril on the other hand were too busy splashing in the water or eating a hot dog or something. :)
Tessa, ever the big sister, proved she can handle two babies at once. Her baby Tate and baby Sidney, Jason and Shelby Kirk's little darling.
Hope you enjoyed the pics as much as we enjoyed our visit! See you soon sunny Florida!

Dear George

If there's one thing I absolutely can not stand in this world, it's people with NO CLASS. Such as the parents of this youngster (who should be reported to Emily Post, if not DCFS):

If you see any hoodlums such as this running around Fenway this weekend, please tell his parents my views of their child rearing (or lack there of) and offer a name of a Speech Pathologist to help their child with his impediment.

I'm sorry Joe and the boys have to spend such a beautiful fall weekend in the etiquette-challenged metropolis that is Boston. Hopefully, they will be compensated with a sweep for their suffering.

Sincerely,
Mrs. John Edward Hernandez

R. E. Olds would NOT be proud!

Mom was sweet enough to drop off a fresh bottle of Tylenol PM for me last night from Walgreen's. I had a killer headache and only that would do.

She also found the original Owner's Manual to my car, as well as the original sticker showing the price and gas mileage (city and highway).

Here's where I get even more angrier at our government that I already am....

2002 Oldsmobile Alero
City: 20/mpg
Highway: 29/mpg

Now, I figured, given the car's age and miles, the original MPG guarantee is not what it once was. I assumed I was getting around 20 MPG. GM's getting the last laugh. I'm probably around 15. And gas, as always, is still above $3.00/gallon.

Who killed the electric car?

Catechist

Definition: A person who facilitates the process of faith formation, first by echoing the word of God in his or her own life and second by helping others to do so.

Today was the first day of CCD at St. George. I have 10 3rd grade students in my charge. It was a great first class and I'm really looking forward to see how the year unfolds.

In today's lesson, we learned about the Old Testament (pre-JC) and New Testament & how to locate passages in the Bible using the book, chapter, and verse. Next week we'll have a refresher on the Sacrament of Reconciliation and will receive the Sacrament as a class the following week. Confession's definitely one of the things I love most about being a Catholic. No matter how bad you screw up, you can go and ask for forgiveness and be guaranteed a clean slate to try again. JC never gives up on us. It's nice to be reminded of that! (Hmmm...I think I'll incorporate that into next week's lesson!)

Decked out in Blue & Gold, we wait with bated breathe to see if he's everything we hope for in a Savior.

Let's go IRISH!

Welcome to Orlando

We landed in sunny Florida shortly before midnight, safe and sound! Johnny's looking forward to watching the 'canes with Tom this afternoon and Kristen's looking forward to a Costco trip with Mom to get all the fixins' for homemade Boulabase (sp?) tonite. Yum-O!

Have a wonderful (and relaxing!) Labor Day Weekend everyone!
