Happy to be in Florida!

We arrived in the Sunshine State yesterday--and it's been all sunshine since! 80 degrees and bright skies...yes, please!

Riding the tram to baggage claim with Nonna...

Diva!

Little Guys

Found this picture of John, Mike & Rich while we were over at Uncle Rich and Aunt Jan's house today--that's Johnny holding Richie (aka, Dexter!) and Mikey sitting next to him. How handsome are these guys?

John Michael becomes a Catholic!

The Christening of John Michael Hernandez

Our sweet boy was welcomed into our Catholic faith today. We had a wonderful day celebrating with all our family that was able to join us. Michael and Brittany served as Godfather and Godmother--how blessed he is to have them to count on through life...

He wore the same Christening gown Lola did--the one we had made from my wedding dress. It was so special to dress him in it this morning. Our children were both baptized on the same altar we were married--by the same special man that married us, Deacon John Ficker. Sitting in the pew this afternoon, realizing that--it just put a huge smile on my face :)

Everyone came over to the house afterwards for lunch. I continue to be amazed at how we can comfortably entertain a HUGE family in a condo! The bunch enjoyed lunch from Rubino's, Bragie's potato salad lovingly made by Auntie Karen & Uncle Dave and cake from Creative Cakes--I had them add a Celtic cross and Irish Creme filling. See the theme?

Thank you again to everyone who joined us--both physically and in spirit! We love you all and are so greatful to have you in our son's life!

Johnny-3 Months

Johnny isn’t officially 3 months until next Saturday, but we’ve got a busy week ahead with his Christening on Sunday and travel to Florida on Wednesday--so I thought I’d better get this blogged now while I’ve got a chance!

First off, his size--oh my! He’s such a little tank! I’m guessing he’s about 12 pounds, but we won’t go back to the doctor until he’s 4 months. More to love!

He’s been hanging out in his cloth diapers for the last few weeks and seems quite comfy in them. Mommy is loving them, too :) So glad we started earlier this time around.

He’s been raising his head higher and higher during tummy time--almost looks like he’s ready to get his chest off the floor, which I’m sure will come in the next month. He seems happier about doing it, too. Not as crabby.

Speaking of crabby, he’s a little fussier than Baby Lola was, but in the same breath, we think he offers more smiles than she did at this age. He LOVES if you play peek-a-boo with him and will give you all the smiles you want.

He has been sleeping quite well at night, only getting up once to eat.

He coos sweetly and is focusing hard on trying to figure out how to take swipes at the hanging objects in his bouncy seat. He’s done it a few times and kicks in delight when it happens--and SMILES! It’s so fun to watch.

He’s being a good sport about being held by his sister and her “neediness” now that he’s a part of our family. She’s very kind to him but she’s realized he’s taking attention away from her and at times, isn’t thrilled about it. But that just goes with the territory of having a new baby in the house. With all the adjusting she’s had to endure over the last 6 months--we can still say she’s our awesome girl.

Spring is in the air today and will surely be here to stay once we return from Florida. That being said we CAN NOT wait to get down to the sunshine state to share our new boy with family and friends. It’s pretty much his official debut into the world because we’ve kept him at home inside the entire Winter. To make up for it, we plan to be out as much as humanly possible from here on out!

Sometimes, he'll roll over!

Hello beautiful.
"Mom, who is running this show--you or HER?!"

Super Bowl Sunday

Well, the Steelers didn't win, but Daddy & Buck enjoyed watching the game together.
Johnny is a little TANK. He is growing so fast. He was doing so great pushing his upper body off the floor during tummy time today, I wish I was able to get pics of it. Every day, he gets better and better. He also bears weight on his little legs quite well.Me and my boy. Excuse my post-run galmour look!

{my cuddlebugs}

{brother + sister}

pure sweetness.

Johnny Tummy Time 8 weeks old

I shot this video about 2 weeks ago--we've been doing alot of tummy time to make Johnny as strong as can be. Just two days ago, I had him on his tummy and he pushed off so high, he rolled over! I'm sure it was just a fluke because it's still quite early for him to do that consistently just yet, but the point is he CAN do it. So proud!

Blizzard 2011

In my (almost!) 30 years of living in this area, I have NEVER seen a snow quite like this. We had our fair share of “snow days” growing up but I can’t recall a time that we couldn’t get out of our house if we wanted to. Tuesday afternoon, a bona fide blizzard started and didn’t stop until Wednesday afternoon. The winds reached upwards of 60 mph and we even had thunder and lighting. It was crazy. So thankful we got to watch it from the warmth and safety of our home!

It was so bad, even big kids (working adults) had snow days, too. We were glad Daddy was home with us. Thank goodness I stocked up at Costco on Monday because there was no way we were going anywhere. The drifts were so high, we couldn’t open our front door until late afternoon (the crews had so much to blow and shovel.) Around 4 p.m., Lola and I went outside to check things out and so she could spend some time in the fluffy white stuff.
