Trick-or-Treat

What a difference a day makes! While it was quite cooler than yesterday, we couldn't have asked for better weather for trick-or-treating. Sunny and dry!

We had a very fun-filled afternoon and Lola got lots of candy that Mommy & Daddy will enjoy for her. After making the rounds in the neighborhood with the Nowinski's, we headed over to Mom's and then stopped at Uncle Kenny's & Auntie Cheryl's before we headed home to put our little Lion to bed.

Here are just a few from the day. You can see the entire album here:

Halloween-111th Street Style

We took Lola up to the shop today for 111th Street's annual trick-or-treat. The weather was awful all day long--non-stop rain until 5 pm. So instead of getting lots of candy, we just hung out with everyone at the shop. Lola "The Lion" Hernandez was as entertaining as ever...

I dressed her at home--here she is, ready to go!

Greeting family!

The boys (Phil, Timmy, Ronnie & John)
The other day John called me the "Lioness--protector of my cub." I present to you, my cub.

Uncle Kenny & Lola...and a flat-bed tow truck.
Is this not the sweetest?

Papa & Lucy--the official candy distributors.
Daddy & his cub. We'll call him Mufasa.
She was getting a KICK out of knocking on the door at Papa.
Love the juxtaposition of this angle...
More knocking!
Going for a ride with Uncle Davey.
Mommy "The Lioness" Hernandez
At about 5 pm, the sun finally showed up. How amazing is this sky? My cousin Timmy has some good photog skills!

More to come tomorrow. We're for sure getting our candy then!

Mimicking

One of the cutest things Lola is doing these days is mimicking. When she sees John or I pick up the phone and say hello, she'll put her hand (or play phone if near-by) to her head, tilts her head to let it rest on the imaginary receiver and say, ''Hi!"

On a not so cute note, she was playing tug-of-war with her jammies tonight and I took them away and said, "Mine." Probably NOT the best choice of words on my part because she walked around for the next 5 minutes saying "Mine." Oopps!

"Boo" Mail

GiGi, Grandma, Papa & TiTi sent Lola some "Boo" mail today. Lots of fun clothes, yummy homemade cookies and money for her piggy bank.

Reading her cards with their sweet messages.
Finger licking good cookies.
It turned messy QUICK, so we moved to the kitchen :)

Mommy will post pics of me in my pretty new clothes and jammies soon!

WE ARE READY FOR #27!

Good for the ears.

Lola & I took a trip to the Library last week and got some great board books as well as some new tunes. I love that the public library has TONS of cds you can check out, upload to your iTunes and then return--all for free! We picked up a few children's tittles and all three of us can't get enough of Elizabeth Mitchell's "You Are My Little Bird". If you know anything about children's music, it can be quite corny at times. This, however, is far from it. It's released on the Simithsonian Institute's record label, so that says alot!

Highly recommend to all parents and tots!

Apples & Pumpkins

John came home on Saturday and words can't really describe how wonderful it feels to each of us (Lola included!) to be back together as a family--finally! We have been having the best time, just the three of us. We're not doing anything different than we were before he left, but it's the everyday simple things that we do together that make it feel extraordinary. I haven't cooked a meal in a month and it feels good to get it all together and sit down and eat together. I have honestly missed cooking every night. The clean-up though...no one misses that!

The weather was nothing short of stunning today so we headed out to County Line Orchard in Indiana--the same place we went last year. Only this year, Lola got to really enjoy it. We ran around the orchard picking apples, then had a bite to eat, and then picked the perfect pumpkin before heading home...

Lola chasing Daddy into the orchard...
Picking the low-lying fruit...
Is there anything sweeter than a Daddy holding his little girl's hand? What he wouldn't do for his baby...

Lola couldn't stop saying "ball". She thought all the apples were little balls!
Giving Daddy her selection...
Mommy helping Lola pick a Fuji of some sort...

At lunch, we treated ourselves to their INSANE pumpkin and apple cinnamon doughnuts. Since Lola ate broccoli dipped in butternut squash for dinner last night, we thought she deserved a splurge too...

Pumpkins, pumpkins EVERYWHERE! She loved this part!
"I can pick it up all by myself."

Look at those "Johnny" dimples!

See you all soon...wait until you see me in my Halloween costume!
One word: ROAR!!!!!!!
