Happy Thanksgiving!

We hope you had as wonderful a Thanksgiving as we did! We have SO MUCH to be thankful for.

Just a few from Thanksgiving--for once, I didn't have my camera glued to my hand. Isn't she lovely?

This is typical behavior the second she gets in a dress. Love it!

Lola's New Crib

Lola has officially moved out of Mommy & Daddy's room and is napping and sleeping in her Nursery now. We've had the changing table and matching dresser up for months, but just got the crib together last weekend. John did a great job assembling! He's handy after all :)

Thanks Dad & Sue for the beautiful crib!

She did it!

I posted a few weeks ago that Lola could roll over from her tummy to her back. Since then, she's been working diligently to roll over from her back to her tummy, a more challenging task for the infant. About a week ago, she rolled over for John. Then, on Thursday, she rolled over for my mom. While I was out running errands yesterday, John called to say she had done it again, twice. By the time I got home, she was rolling over from her back to her tummy with ease. And quickly. You take your eyes off of her for a second, and she's rolled over! We're so proud of her. Just the beginning really!

Another accomplishment...yesterday was moving day for Lola. She is now sleeping in her nursery in her crib--no longer in our room. I must say it was very hard for me but like I had hoped, we all slept better last night. She went down around 8:30 pm and didn't wake up until 4:00 am. At that time, I nursed her a bit and she slept again til about 7:00 am. I'm currently reading a book (Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child) which I'm hoping will help her get on a little more structured nap schedule so she can sleep more at night. We'll see how it works!

We got some cute pics of the big girl in her new crib which I'll post ASAP! Well that's about it for now. We're getting ready to go take our Christmas card picture. Cheezy, I know. But we're excited. It'll be our first "professional" family picture together. And will be hitting a mailbox near you soon (pending they come out half way decent!)

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Three months...and catching up!

A little re-cap on what's going on over here...it's been awhile!

Lola had a 3 month check up a few weeks ago to get the rest of her 2 month shots (Mommy likes to split them up for her.) She was 12 lbs. 8 oz. at that visit. We headed back to the doctor on Monday because our sweet little angel was congested and coughing all weekend (still is...). On Monday, she was 13 lbs. 2 oz.--growing like a weed! We're still nursing a bit, but she's on mostly formula now, so I was expecting to see a little more meat on her bones! (See pics below.)

The doctor determined she's just got a little cold--hopefully she can kick it soon and it doesn't progress into anything further. We've got the humidifer on, are rubbing Baby Vicks on her chest and shooting saline drops up her nose. Lucky girl! Through it all though, she's still the smiley, happy baby she always is. I've decided being her mother is by far the world's easiest and funnest job--it's all the other stuff I have to do with my time that's a drag (cooking, cleaning, working)--on the other hand, I feel I'm "blessed with work"--a line from one of my favorite movies, Return To Me. Have you seen it? If not, you MUST! Beautiful story.

I digress...I can't believe the holidays are fast approaching! Lola's holiday ensembles have already been purchased (we had so much fun shopping together for the perfect dresses!) and our travel plans are set. We're staying in town for Thanksgiving & Christmas, but we're headed down to Florida to visit our family the first week of December. Hopefully, Lola's GiGi (Great Grandma Gracie) will be home from the hospital by then. Gracie, at the age of NINETY TWO, underwent back surgery a few weeks ago. She was doing pretty good, but then she developed a clot in her lung so they're working on getting that fixed so she can begin rehab again and get home where she belongs. Please, please, please say some extra prayers for our Gracie! We're getting so excited for Lola and her to finally meet--both are SO EXCITED!

Well, that's about it for now. Baby bear's about to wake up from her morning siesta in just a few minutes and I've got a million things to do as usual. So enjoy the new pics. I took them last week sometime. She cracks us up!

She's just a tad obsessed with her hands lately :)

Accomplishments!

Little Miss Lola can roll over from her tummy to her back! She's trying so hard to roll from back to tummy too. And...Cousin Clark is officially walking!

Ok you two, stop growing up so fast!

Easy. Tasty. CHEAP!

As John and I were eating dinner last night, I realized it only cost $5 for us to have a very tasty, healthy, home cooked meal. That's right....FIVE DOLLARS! :)

On the menu was Chicken ($4) with Roasted Carrots ($1):
I took a small roasting chicken (easily fed us 2 with some left over to throw on John's salad for lunch today), rinsed it, patted it try, then rubbed it with olive oil and seasoned with salt and pepper. I also threw 4 garlic cloves I smashed in the cavtiy of the poor lil' chicken. I roasted it at 350 degrees for 1 hour & 45 minutes. (I tented foil over it for the last 30 minutes, didn't want it to burn.)

During the last 45 minutes, I added the carrots to the oven. I took a bag of baby carrots, tossed them with olive oil, sprinkled them with salt and roasted them.

I let the chicken rest for a few minutes before I sliced off the legs, wings and breasts. For the bargain price of $5 and the few seconds it took to put it together, it couldn't have tasted better!

She's now offically a fan of "Tummy Time"...

New Bouncy

We've upgraded her bouncy seat! The other one just vibrated--she's so much more aware now, she needed a little more fun. This one has a kick bar and hanging things for her to grab at. And, when she kicks, it lights up! Oh boy, does she kick! It also bounces with her as she moves. Not to mention, it's cute as heck! I swear she enjoys it, though the look on her face might say otherwise!

Do you like my snow suit?

Old Plank Road Trail

Baby, it's cold outside! The Indian Summer we were enjoying is now long gone for sure, but last weekend, we took one more opportunity to enjoy the temperate fall weather and the beautiful turning leaves. We headed out to our favorite local Sunday spot--downtown Frankfort. We took baby and her 'boo out for a spin around the Old Plank Road Trail.

Baby + Walk outside = A nap (everytime!)

The canopy of trees reminds me of driving down the Avenue on SMC's campus...
What a beautiful golden tree!
Walking through the neighborhood, I was
impressed with this homeowners creative for Halloween!

A suggestion to First Lady-elect, Mrs. Michelle Obama

In this era of conservation and difficult economic times, might I suggest you take a page from Mrs. John F. Kennedy's book? When it comes to one of your first official duties, selecting the state china, you might consider re-using a previous pattern. Mrs. Kennedy decided to re-use the Lincoln china for smaller dinner parties and the Truman pattern for state dinners.

My toy ROCKS!

Hi Everyone, Lola here! Mommy hogs the blog too much, so I'm going to write a bit. We went over to my friend Preston's house the other day. He let me play with his cool toy. Well, I LOVED it. I'm not talking yet, but when we left his house, I gave Mommy a look and she knew it meant I wanted her to get me that toy for our house. So this morning after breakfast at DnD, Mommy & Daddy took me to Toys R Us and bought it for me! Yes, that's correct, they're wrapped around my finger!

As soon as we got home, Mommy put it together and I played with it for a long time. When I kick the ball, the bear's head moves and lights up and sings to me. It's sooooo cool! You see, I'm becoming much more aware of my surroundings these days (I am 3 months old today, after all!) I'm really starting to enjoy these whole "toy" thing. That store had so many of them! It's a good thing Christmas is coming. I better start writting my list. Mommy, Daddy & St. Nick need to get shoppin'!

Love you all....KISSES AND HUGS!

Lola's First Halloween

Yesterday was a long, but VERY fun day. Mommy dressed Lola up in her Bumble Bee costume and then we headed up to the shop (aka Kurek Brothers, Inc.)...The merchants along 111th Street see about 1,000+ trick-or-treaters on Halloween, so we decided to head up to visit everyone and enjoy the spectacle.
